Players around the world are always fascinated by how vast and intriguing the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild world is, and it’s easy to see why. If you’ve been playing the game for a while, you know that there are plenty of side quests with hidden shrines. The Sasa Kai Shrine is no different. So, if you want to learn how to find and complete the Sign of the Shadow quest — stay tuned for the answers.
Completing the Sign of the Shadow Quest
To start your quest, you first have to find the shrine. It is located in the southwest part of your map, or the Gerudo region. Once you get there, you have to talk to a minstrel, Kass, to get your first clue.
Kass will recite a short poem, that goes like this:
“As light shines from the northwest skies,
From the tower’s shadow an arrow flies.
Pierce heaven’s light to reveal the prize.”
As soon as Kass finishes his riddle, you will have officially unlocked the Sign of the Shadow quest. Behind him, in the distance, you will see where you need to go. You can use your paraglider to get across from where you’re standing to the altar.
In order to activate the altar and find the Sasa Kai Shrine, you have to wait for it to be either 3 PM or 1 AM (game time). If you’re there during the day, take out your bow and arrow and shoot up at the sun. Of course, if you’ve landed during the night, shoot the moon.
If you do this part right, the Sasa Kai Shrine will be revealed and you will complete the Sign of the Shadow quest.
Inside the Sasa Kai Shrine
Even though the quest is done, if you want to receive some rewards, you’ll have to go inside the Sasa Kai Shrine. Once you’re there, you’ll see a guardian that you have to defeat. Now, beating him is a modest test of strength that shouldn’t be too difficult.
You can use either a sword or spear to do the job. We found that a two-handed weapon also works well. You can employ a spinning attack and take the guardian down in a few minutes.
When you defeat him, you will receive a Spirit Orb and a Frostblade weapon. With that, your Sign of the Shadow adventure is finally over.
